Kaleidoscopes have a way of emphasizing a subject matter through the power of repetition. In this piece, the subject matter was inspired by the Bronze heads from Ile Ife. Which were unearthed in 1938, after being buried for over seven centuries? The bronze cast heads showed how advanced our West African Art was for such an old relic. At a time were historians would not have attributed such artistic workmanship to our civilization. The idea of using the images of the gracious female head in a pop art style Kaleidoscope was the aim behind this work.
