Efiom Okokon is a self-taught photographer who has always been interested in capturing moments in ways that others do not imagine. Efiom states, “I saved up for my first camera (an Olympus film-based point and shoot) when I was a teenager. I snapped my worst ever set of images during those dreadful days when I couldn’t tell if the pictures where clear of the head of the subject was cut off until it came back from the printers”.

“However as time went by, I sat through a couple of YouTube videos and thousands of mistakes later, I started getting some images I felt were a bit decent. I snapped everything from portraits to landscape but I believe my passion is in capturing places within and outside Nigeria in a way that nobody might have thought about. I have also covered the Calabar carnival on a personal capacity for almost a decade now. I love travelling and I have gone on photographic adventures in the United States, United Kingdom, UAE, South Africa, Ghana and of course within Nigeria to mention the places that readily come to mind. Photography to me is firstly my passion before it becomes a money maker”.
