A gloomy depiction of Marina, the business district of Lagos. Again like some of Demola’s other paintings this work considers the nighttime economy and city life. A lifestyle that has grown with the unprecedented influx of people from the villages and other states into the city in search of economic stability and growth. In the foreground, is the CMS church facade, an important Lagos Island landmark from the colonial period still standing and gracing the waterfront district of the city.
