My name is Mangai Joel Dawang and I am from Plateau state of the Berom tribe. I am a graduate of fine art, specializing in painting, from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria. I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in painting, from the same institution.

I have been a practising artist with interest in practising photography as well. I am mostly inspired by human figures, faces and cultural figures because they reflect our feelings or situations at certain times. These elements are reflected in my works.

I have in recent times been inspired by abstract forms in painting, and currently experimenting with transformation process of decomposing leaves to create abstract compositions in painting.
