Oviri Alaric was born in 1964 in Ghana and is a native of Agbarha-otor in Ughelli, Delta State. He studied at the Government College Ughelli. Over time, he has maintained a sustained relationship with the Ovuomaroro Gallery where he presently works as a consultant and manager for the Harmattan workshop.

His personal philosophy and concept is that art is life in which he lives in. He is quoted as saying that art “is part of the environment that I live in, I see the beauty, rich and poor, the impact of social, political, economic, religion of life living with the rich culture and my work brings the urgent wakeup call in the art historian and this really shows in some of the works I do”.

Oviri has exhibited in the Russian Cultural Centre in Lagos and the international Institute for Tropical Agriculture in Ibadan – a Rockefeller Foundation. He is also a member of the Otu Ewena Group.
