Otoki’s painting depicts a serene countryside typical of an Africa village where life is mainly communal, convivial and of sharing amongst the villagers. This concept of living is the bedrock of the traditional extended family system that has been established many centuries ago. The work also shows the blue sky enveloping landscape beneath it. The houses with corrugated and rusted zinc sheets provide a sense of time in relation the architecture of the locality.
