Afebuame paints a usual “sight” in Lagos where buses squeeze through narrow roads made impassable by anxious commuters, pedestrians, market men and women.  His painting depicts the tops of the popular Lagos bus transport – the “danfo” and “molue” as the wait to convey their passengers to some unknown destinations.  The yellow colours used are recognisable in one’s daily exploration of the city, the element that gives Lagos its energy and enchantment. One outstanding highlight in the painting is the inscription on the bus – “Time Na Money”.  Texts like this are traditional to most African cities as they reflect the people’s connection with their space and daily activities.
