Ogaga continues with his historical exploration into tradition and the culture of the Durbar is once again highlighted in this painting. The painting shows minstrels attached to the Emir’s entourage, which also includes royal guards, jesters and magicians. Both horses and singers are brilliantly dressed in royal colours. The ambience of the environment exudes power, strength and royalty with the artist’s exuberant use of purple, blue and what can be metaphorically interpreted as scarlet adornment. The Emir’s multi coloured umbrella can be seen emerging from the background as they entourage heads in pomp and pageantry toward the place of glorification.
