Ben’s work shows a painter avid to symmetrical arrangements and vivid colours. An early painting probably produced during his lecturing years in Auchi, depicts assorted fruits setup unusually not in a position for sale but the purpose of which is left to the viewer’s own imagination. Ben is a minimalist and this is seen in this painting. The foreground is almost angled in such a manner to create ample room for the subject and place them under observation. Metaphorically, the fruits represent numbers or some kind of statistics under probe or examination.
