Ben’s painting appropriates information and data from or in memory.  The painting depicts a barbing salon, a common space in cities across Nigeria where people go for grooming and consequently engage in conversations that touch on pressing societal issues. Obviously, this space left a mark or something of interest for the painter to represent it on his canvas. His minimalist’s approach again comes into play with texts, lines and unique arrangement of his subjects/characters.  He offers a discerning window for the onlooker or viewer to feel the mood and understand the nuances in this space.  The vibrancy of the colours suggests a lively ambience as one of the subjects, in the foreground can be seen gesticulating with a mirror in his hand.   This painting clearly shows that the painter is a keen observer of daily lives in Nigeria.
