Babatunde’s painting shows, in an impressionist manner, women colourfully dressed and adorned with beads gyrating in what can be seen as traditional dance from the South and Niger Delta part of Nigeria. Such dances or performance are often related to seasonal homecoming, harvest festivals, marriages and the welcoming of newborn babies.  This culture can be traced back to the pre-colonization period and has become somewhat of a trend and norm in contemporary times.  The painting also depicts the unique and brilliant colours of the fabrics the women from this region usually wear in festive periods.
