The painting is a deviation from Imoesi’s central theme – the environment.  Here a group of travellers with loads on the back of donkeys make their pilgrimage to an unknown destination.  A leading man on horseback acts as the pacemaker while the pack trudge on with heavy loads as they navigate an uncharted terrain. Imoesi reports the feeling of exhaustion with the sombre tones.  The dominant blue colour suggests (though subjective to the viewer) a cold and unfavourable condition, which is common to the kind journey, depicted in this painting.
