The painting is an abstract depiction of people charting their paths across the landscape into a distant horizon, however unknown.  Journeys across a large expanse of lands and seas, a subject matter relating to recent global issues on conflict instigated mass emigration forms the central theme of this painting. Godwin sparingly accentuates the people with primary colours to bring attention to the human angle of the ongoing crisis yet remains conservative in his rendering.  A rotary box hangs overhead, metaphorically representing a compass or luminal body used for direction into the “promised land”.
