This is one of Yoloye’s most evocative paintings and a journey into surrealism. The air is thick with otherworldly symbolism; long shadows, a hazy full moon, ghostly apparition that appears to drift in the still night and probably the odd call from an owl to complete the mysterious setting. One can just imagine little children in this rural backdrop huddled around a fire and listening to a ‘scary’ fairy story from an elder. Yoloye’s delicate application of colours gives this painting a truly ethereal substance.
