Ogunnusi’s decision to opt for dark colours gives the painting a subdued ambience. The composition of the work is key and the viewer is coaxed to pay attention to it. The town is shown in the background, the people on their way to the Market and the main road that leads out of town. Here (as in the majority of his work) the brushstrokes remain consistent and it gives the paintings a tactile feel.
