This image is from a series of six photographs that focus on the understanding of a split personality and sense of identity. Being British and Nigerian growing up in an averagely white neighbourhood and at the same time, going to a school that was majority black kids. I came to identify the struggles of being black, speaking affluent English and not really ascribing to the standards of “blackness”. So I decided to create a series of images about how I felt as I believe I had to always flip certain switches to fit certain background whilst making sure neither overlaps in opposite settings.
