The painting is a take on one aspect of the Nigerian society (wealth). Nigeria is Africa’s biggest economy and the gap between the haves and have-nots is ever increasing. Against this backdrop some well-to-do Nigerians have been known to flash the ‘cash’ for all to see, sometimes at inappropriate occasions. The work is a superb and delightful abstraction and gracefully accomplished. The paradox (of the work) however is the unstated story of poverty and destitution often juxtaposed to wealth.
