Jonathan Ikpoza was born in Ikorodu on the 1st of December 1979. Originally from Delta state, Nigeria. He holds National Diploma (2006) and Higher National Diploma in painting from Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi (2009). He is the founder of The Ingenious Minds, a pioneering member of Araism Movement and the arts manager /CEO, Jonix Studios, Lagos. He lives and works in Lagos.

He is a versatile artist who works with different media and techniques. His paintings are colourful yet subtle. He uses lines in creating rhythmic flows of shapes across his subjects and infuses three-dimensional surface qualities to coloured shapes through colour orchestration. His themes range from cultural, social, historical and contemporary. He believes that his works should not only be valued as beautiful pieces but should be regarded as a means of education as he communicates with figurative illustrations of people, lives, places, culture and issues affecting the society at one time or another. Ikpoza developed Goemetrism as his own personalized style. He has been exploring the use of shapes and lines in analysing the forms of his subjects since 2005 and he renders these analyses in a convincing stylized figurative dramatic abstraction.

Ikpoza creates works that visually promotes the quest for peace within a violence-filled society. His works are influenced by the concern for true security and freedom from environmental threats in the society. The regular news on the media about curbing insecurity which has become unending necessitates his art projects.

He aims at seeing people change their behavioural angry and violent attitude to peaceful cohabitation with humans, animals and the environment.

He had participated in over 40 national and international exhibitions. His works are highly collected in Nigeria, United States and U.K.
